Monica Lyon: Director of ASD. Monica has been the Director for the last 11 years. Her dance training started in Belleville as a child and continued at Seneca College where she graduated with Honours from the Gymnastics Coaching Techniques program. Monica is a certified member of the CDTA in the Stage division and with NCCP in Artistic Gymnastics and Trampoline. Monica continues her dance training by attending yearly CDTA teacher’s conferences. Monica teaches the Acrobatics, & Tap in the Competitive programs and the Creative Dance, Tap, & Acrobatics in the Recreational programs. Monica’s choreography continually receives awards at competitions.
Sarah Chandler: Sarah has been with ASD for 24 of its 25 years. As a dancer she participated in the CDTA exams and completed the 3 year Dance Teachers Club of Boston summer program. Sarah is also a CDTA Full Member in the Stage division. Sarah still loves to dance & takes adult classes in Ottawa from a lifetime member of the CDTA. Sarah teaches our competitive Sr. Jazz dancers & Contemporary classes and oversees our CDTA exam program. Sarah’s choreography continues to win awards year after year.
Andrea Bahm-Barker: Andrea studied Ballet here in Arnprior and participated in RAD examinations. In 1989 she started teaching for ASD and two years later became Co-Artistic Director and retired 13 years later. In 2010 eight years later, Andrea was lured back from her dance school retirement to lend her expertise in ballet and Musical Theatre. An accomplished singer and musical theatre performer, Andrea shares her talent and experience with our competitive & recreational musical theatre classes and the Jr. & Int. Rec. Jazz. Andrea’s musical theatre continues to win top marks at every competition.
Nicole Lamoureux: Nicole danced and competed with Greta Leeming Studio of dance in Ottawa, as well as taught there for a number of years. She also attended the Quinte Ballet School Summer program as well as various other camps and workshops. After completing her undergraduate degree Nicole attended the University of Toronto and graduated from the Masters Program of Physiotherapy. She is a full time physiotherapist at Ottawa Valley Physiotherapy in Arnprior and a full time mom to an active 2 year old but still finds time to teach our competitive Int. Jazz dancers. This year Nicole will also be teaching the Recreational Int. Jazz class. Nicole’s Competitive Int. Jazz dancers were chosen for the Dance off competition at the 2011 Shine Nationals.
Janyne Fraser: Janyne danced with ASD in both jazz and hip hop. After graduating high school Janyne stayed on with the school and took over the competitive hip hop program. Since then she has developed a choreography style that has won numerous awards including the top hip hop mark at Shine Nationals 2011. This year Janyne will be taking over the entire hip hop program including the recreational classes as well.
Lisa Godin: Lisa was a member of the ASD competitive team and participated in the CDTA exams. After high school she attended the University of Ottawa and graduated with a degree in Commerce specializing in Accounting. Lisa works full time in Ottawa but still makes time to instill her passion and talent for dance to her Sr. recreational dancers in jazz and lyrical. Lisa continues to find time to continue her dance education by taking lessons in Ottawa from a lifetime member of the CDTA.
Tara Sabourin: Tara began dance at the Arnprior School of Dance and a few years later moved to the Greta Leeming School of dance and competed across Canada and the United States. Tara also studied at the Kanata Ballet School and the Quinte Ballet School of Canada. Tara graduated with an Honors Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance at York University. While living in Toronto she taught and was a part of several companies and performances in the city and the surrounding areas. Studies have recently brought Tara back to the area, and back to the Arnprior School of Dance. Tara will be teaching the Recreational Jr. & Int. Jazz classes, as well as the Competitive Jazz & Ballet programs.
